About Me

I'm Johanna – physicist and science & tech consultant.
MAIN BIO
I hold a doctorate from the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, where I worked in molecular spectroscopy and radio astronomy. After my PhD, I moved into technical project management and product ownership in high-tech instrumentation – running complex projects at the interface between engineers, business stakeholders, and international customers. I also spent time as a patent attorney trainee, drafting applications across fields including electron microscopy and spectroscopy.
In 2026 I went independent, and since then I've authored The Organized Lab: A Note-Taking System for Research Teams, published 15+ articles on lab management, technical project management, and STEM-related career paths on Medium, and created HeronSpecs – a personal brand offering digital tools and templates for research teams and tech professionals.
WHAT I BRING
Scientific literacy
I can read your methods section, understand your instrumentation, and write about it accurately. I can also help as a peer reviewer. I have written and reviewed several academic papers myself, in various fields (molecular spectroscopy, radio astronomy, and more).
Academic-to-industry translation
I know firsthand how hard it is to bridge the gap between academia and the corporate world. I completely translate deep research, publications, and complex lab skills into high-value corporate assets that recruiters actually look for. Having successfully made the jump myself, I provide the exact roadmap, interview strategies, and mindset shifts physical science PhDs need to land rewarding industry roles.
Marketing execution
I don't just advise – I build. Websites, content pipelines, SEO setups, KDP book launch, social strategies. I've done all of this for my own brand and for clients.
My own brand HERONSPECS
HeronSpecs is my personal brand, focused on lab management and technical project management tools for scientists and tech professionals. Its flagship publication is The Organized Lab: A Note-Taking System for Research Teams (2026). It's also my live proof of concept: everything I offer as a communicator and writer, I've done for HeronSpecs first.

Johanna was a pleasure to work with. She laid out a reasonable timeline and while working on the patent application she actively setup multiple review milestones so all misunderstandings were quickly caught and addressed. She has advanced knowledge in Electron microscopy and EDS analysis.
